Karur: The MDMK general secretary, Mr. Vaiko said that he did not think that the Supreme court will render justice to the people of Tamil Nadu in the Cauvery water dispute.

Addressing a press conference on Sunday after the Party’s High-level committee meeting held under the leadership of party presidium president K. Duraisamy  at Aravakkurichi near here, he pointed out that both the Supreme court and the Union government "betrayed" the people of Tamil Nadu.

Stating that he had doubts whether the Centre would establish the CMB even after the Karnataka Assembly elections, he called upon the people of Tamil Nadu especially the youths and women to lay the siege to Central government offices.

He alleged that the BJP-led Central government was making all-out efforts to execute the neutrino project in Theni district of Tamil Nadu and that the party had created an awareness about this in the Southern districts.

He also charged that the Tamil Nadu Government had given its green signal for acquiring 55,000 acres of land in Cuddalore and Nagapattinam districts for establishing a petroleum zone and such action  by the State was not excusable.

The MDMK in a resolution called for protecting the interests of the small traders and urged the State government to ban online trade.

Mr. Vaiko also took strong exception to incorporating a lesson on Prime Minister Modi’s victory in the Plus-two syllabi and termed it illiberal and anti-secular.
