In-flight delivery of baby in Hyderabad
The hospital staff of Apollo Cradle were informed in advance.
Hyderabad: An emergency in-flight delivery of a baby girl was carried out in Philippine Airlines as the flight made an emergency landing at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad.
The mother was in advanced stages of pregnancy and had been going through severe labour pains due to which the flight enroute to Manila from Riyadh had to opt for an emergency medical attention.
The hospital staff of Apollo Cradle were informed in advance. They were present at the airport prior to the landing of the flight. Once the flight landed, an in-flight delivery was facilitated as the umbilical cord was left intact.
This was because the surgical blade could not be taken inside the airport due to security reasons. The mother and baby were hospitalised and the cord was cut with the necessary aseptic precautions. Recovery of both mother and child have has normal.
