Bengaluru: The city police, investigating the case of three Pakistani nationals who along with a Kerala man were arrested for staying in the city with fake identities, have gathered more information about the accused.

City Police Commissioner Praveen Sood said on Tuesday that they have intensified the investigation to get all the details about the Pakistani nationals and will also probe terrorism angle.

Mr Sood said that central investigating agencies, such as CBI, R&AW and NIA, have interrogated all the four people. “They are in judicial custody and if required we will take their custody for further investigation,” he said.

The route taken by the accused to reach Bengaluru from Qatar, Pakistan and Nepal before crossing the border into India, via Bihar, is also being probed.

“If necessary, a special team will be formed and sent to Pakistan for further investigation,” Mr Sood said.

Though the police and other central investigating agencies have not found any terror links of the accused, they have not ruled out its possibility.

Meanwhile, Central Crime Branch (CCB) officials have taken the custody of Jayanagar government hospital Deputy Chief Medical Office Dr Nagalakshmamma and a D-group employee in the hospital for further investigation.

It was Dr Nagalakshmamma who signed the documents of Pakistani nationals using which they got their Aadhaar cards done.

How the case was cracked
The city police arrested three Pakistani nationals, Sameera (25), Kiran Ghulam Ali (26) and Kashif Shamshuddin (30), for illegally staying in the city for more than nine months.

A Qatar-return Kerala man Shihab, who had fallen in love with Sameera and married her in Qatar, was also arrested for smuggling the trio into India. Later, the police found Aadhaar cards that Shihab had got made for the trio using false documents. All the three Pakistani nationals hail from Karachi in Pakistan and are relatives.
