Bengaluru: Bengaluru Development Minister K.J. George informed the Legislative Assembly that the government was contemplating increasing the frequency of Metro trains due to increase in patronage. Answering a question by BJP member Suresh Kumar, he said there were proposals to increase the number of coaches in Metro rakes. At the moment, the frequency of Metro had come down from nine minutes to six minutes. It would be reduced after considering safety aspects, he said. At the moment, 50 metro rakes were plying with three bogies each. The government had placed orders for another 150 bogies and paid Rs 1,050 crore for this purpose. On price disparity between Delhi Metro and Namma Metro, Mr George said that he was getting details of price charged by Delhi Metro. In addition, the viability of plying such a huge organisation also has to be taken into consideration, Mr George added.
