Circle inspector goes missing, wife complains
An FIR was later lodged at the South police station on the basis of the complaint.
Kochi: The circle inspector of Ernakulam Central Station, V.S. Navas, has gone missing since early Thursday, according to a complaint filed by his wife.
An FIR was later lodged at the South police station on the basis of the complaint. He was living with his family at the police quarters at Thevara.
“A case was registered. A special four-member team headed by DCP G. Poonguzhali will probe the case,” said Vijay Sakhare, the new city police commissioner who took charge on Thursday.
Meanwhile, it is learnt the missing officer reportedly had an argument with his senior officer over some professional matter the other day.
“The senior officer scolded him over the wireless set after he was found absent during a roll call at 11 pm on Wednesday. The two had a heated word of exchange over wireless communication and the same could be heard by other police personnel. Though there was an intervention from Control room, the former didn’t budge,” the sources said.
The CI was visibly sad after the episode. According to sources, the officer told his co-workers that he was relinquishing his post and even returned equipment such as wireless set and phone SIM card to the police station late on Wednesday.
“The reports about his argument with a senior officer have come to our notice. We’ll also investigate the angle,” Sakhare said.
Navas, known as a straight forward and efficient officer, was earlier in charge of Mararikulam police station and was transferred to the Central station during the time of the Lok Sabha election.
He was transferred the other day to Mattancherry Police station and was slated to take charge there on Thursday but he didn’t turn up. His households too have no idea about his whereabouts after his wife got a Whatsapp message at 6.15 am.
