Bicycle rental project to come up in Visakhapatnam soon

Visakhapatnam: In a view to curb pollution and promote fitness among the denizens, a bicycle rental project would be taken up in the smart city. HRD minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao told the mediapersons here while inaugurating a bike-rental service to be provided by a startup company in the city.
“The project would be taken up under PPP mode. Cycle stands would be established at major junction in the city, from where residents will be able to rent a cycle. They can return the cycle at any stands so that they do not need to come back to the place where they hired it,” he said. “Mitigating pollution has become a big challenge. Going for the cycling project is not only eco-friendly but it would also improve our fitness level. Some cities have already taken up such initiative,” Mr Srinivasa Rao said. GVMC is now providing the cycles free of cost to people on the beach road during morning hours.
