Congress men protest BJP’s bid to topple Karnataka govt
Similar demonstrations were also organised by the party’s South and North district units at Manapparai and Kollidam tollgate.
TIRUCHY/KARUR: Members of the Tiruchy urban district unit of the Congress party led by the party’s district President Jawahar staged a demonstration at Arunachalamandram, the party’s district headquarters here on Saturday, to condemn the BJP government’s move at the Centre to topple the Congress-JD(S) coalition rule in Karnataka through “horse trading”.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Jawahar warned that unless the BJP stopped such ugly political activities otherwise, it would have to pay a heavy price for such toppling games.
Similar demonstrations were also organised by the party’s South and North district units at Manapparai and Kollidam tollgate.
JOTHIMANI’S CHARGE:
Meanwhile, Karur Lok Sabha Congress MP Ms. Jothimani accused the BJP Government at the centre with attempting to murder democracy by toppling the Congress-JD(S) coalition Government in Karnataka with the “black money power of the BJP”.
She told newsmen on the sidelines of the party's demonstration at Karur on Saturday, that the BJP will nevertheless fail in its attempt.
Ms Jothimani said instead of doing good things to the people after a thumping majority the BJP got in the Lok Sabha polls, it was only indulging in “murder of democracy” as in Karnataka now.
The Congress MP said the BJP Government at the centre was also betraying the people of Tamil Nadu on several issues including the Cauvery waters dispute.
Similar demonstrations by Congress party workers were held in Perambalur, Pudukkottai, Tiruvarur, Ariyalur and Nagapattinam districts.
