Hyderabad: Heavy rain by July end
Heavy rainfall is expected to commence only towards the end of July and pick up in August.
Hyderabad: Farmers continue to seek respite as all districts in the state except Karimnagar and Kumarambheem continue to face a rain deficit even in mid-July.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said the monsoon has been weak over the state so far and the situation won't improve before the last week of July. Heavy rainfall is expected to commence only towards the end of July and pick up in August.
The state usually receives 218.6 mm rainfall by this time every year. This year, however, it has received only 146.3 mm so far. Among the districts, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Bhuvanagiri, and Nirmal have been hit the hardest with a deficit of over 50 per cent in the cumulative rainfall for July.
The state received light to moderate rainfall, up to 4 cm in some parts, on Saturday. The highest rainfall was recorded in Nizamabad at 4 cm, followed by Tandur at 3 cm.
