THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With the Congress being at a crossroads after a series of desertions across India, KPCC president Mullapally Ramachandran is putting in his best efforts to complete the organisational revamp by month-end.

He told DC that deliberations are going on, and a majority of the Political Affairs Committee members wanted to follow ‘one man, one post’ norm.

Complaints are galore against MLAs or MPs holding multiple party posts denying chances of others. So in all likelihood, he is going to strictly adhere to the norm, ensuring youth and women better representation.

He had held one-on-one talks with close to eight leaders after the PAC meeting last week.  They urged him not to make it a compact, instead of a jumbo, committee.

A section of leaders who are neither attached to ‘A’ or ‘I’ group have demanded a decent accommodation for them. “Youth, women and also leaders belonging to the various communities will be accommodated. For long, Ezhava community has been complaining of being sidelined where their woes would also be addressed. I can guarantee that a whole balanced KPCC committee will come into effect soon,” he told DC.

It was only recently the AICC decided to appoint working presidents replacing vice-presidents, who have sought a suitable party berth. There are also reports that there will be a minimum of 30 secretaries and 25 general secretaries, true to its tradition of jumbo committees.
