Low pressure in Bay to bring rains to AP

VISAKHAPATNAM: The second monsoon system of July is expected to form over the north Bay of Bengal with a low-pressure area early next week.

According to private weather website Skymet, this system will trigger active to vigorous monsoon conditions over eastern, central and western parts of India in a staggered manner between July 17 and July 23.

IMD Amaravati said there is already a cyclonic circulation over north coastal Andhra Pradesh and neighbourhoods between 5.8 km and 7.6 km above the mean sea level. Another cyclonic circulation is likely to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal around Sunday, July 16.

The cyclonic circulation is expected to turn into a low-pressure area over the north Bay of Bengal on Monday, July 18. Subsequently, it may strengthen into a well-marked low pressure and breach the coastline on Tuesday, July 19. Later, it is expected to move along central parts of the country.

The third cyclonic circulation over the west-central and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal between 4.5 km and 7.6 km above mean sea level is tilting south-westwards with height and has become less marked.

During the last 24 hours, Chintur in Alluri Sitharamaraju district has received a rainfall of 6 cm, with Peddapuram (Kakinada district) receiving 6 cm of rain, Rajahmundry (East Godavari) 5 cm, Dowleshwaram (East Godavari) 3, and Prathipadu (Kakinada district) 3 cm of rain
