Power Officials Issue Strict Instructions to Prevent Disclosure of Log Book Details

Hyderabad: Senior officials in the power department have issued strict oral instructions to staff working in the substations not to share the log book details with 'outsiders'. The log books contain details such as the duration of supply and breakdown. The staff were asked to handover log books at the Transco offices in mandal headquarters immediately.

These instructions came after Congress MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy visited a substation in Bandasomaram village in Bhongir mandal on Thursday and displayed log book details to the media to prove that the government was providing only 11 hours of power to the farmers against its claims of 24x7 supply.

The government received reports that Congress leaders in all the districts were planned to visit substations to examine log reports and 'expose' the factual position on 24-hour power to agriculture, and alerted top TSTransco officials.

Following this, assistant engineers received phone calls from their seniors over maintaining silence. Power staff working in the TSSPDCL and TSNPDCL were warned against providing log details to 'outsiders'.

An AE working in undivided Adilabad district told this newspaper, "We received phone calls from our higher-ups in the morning who instructed us to collect log books from all substations immediately and hand them over at mandal headquarters. We were instructed not to share data with outsiders."

TSSPDCL officials seized log books from all the 350 substations in undivided Nalgonda district on Thursday itself soon after Venkat Reddy shared data with the media.
