Vijayawada: There is criticism that governance is being affected with ministers focussing on the Nandyal byelections. Ministers Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, Adinarayana Reddy, Amarnath Reddy, Akhila Priya, K.E. Krishnamurthy and Kaluva Srinivasulu had dedicated to Nandyal for election purpose leaving behind their constituency, district and their respective departmental affairs.
These entire ministers aren’t seen in the Secretariat except while the Cabinet meeting. Remaining all other Cabinet ministers are regularly visiting Nandyal. Even MAUD Minister Narayana had given special assignment for bypolls.
Mr Chandramohan Reddy admitting that he was not able to address the grievances and focus on his constituency mentioned about being able to handle administrative affairs from Nandyal and attending to policy matters and execution when and where required.
Right from the day the byelection notification was released on July 27, the TD deployed its ministers in Nandyal.
It had started preparations two months earlier. Hundreds of crores worth development activities like roads widening, sewage system, drinking water, implementation of street lights, Andhra Pradesh Fibernet, housing, CC and BT roads, and additional selection of pensioners and all other government development and welfare schemes are initiated and implemented in Nandyal.
Defected MLC S.P. Mohan Reddy in this regard even “wished”, tongue in cheek” for the death an MLA to get rapid development as was being done in Nandyal.
Apart from this, the TD deployed ministers to Nandyal. The district minister and in-charge minister along with others from the Reddy community were deployed in Nandyal as the constituency is seen to be dominated by the community.
Most the ministers deployed in Nandyal had defected from the YSRC.
Each minister is conducting around six meetings daily in order to meet the targets.
Ministers Adinarayana Reddy, Akhila Priya, Srinivasulu, Amarnath Reddy and Sujaya Krishna Ranga Rao haven’t even completed their first review meetings to know about their departments indepth, being first-time ministers.
Though ministers are claiming that they are able to provide effective administration, there isn't anyone to redress public grievances, a deputy director rank official told this newspaper.
