Chennai: Sporadic rains that are drenching the state capital would continue for the next two to three days, due to possible wind instability.
According to the director of the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), S Balachandran, an upper air cyclonic circulation over the Southwe st Bay of Bengal off North Tamil Nadu-South Andhra Pradesh coast is facilitating the rainfall activity.
Also as the Southwest monsoon has been vigorous over Tamil Nadu, the state would witness widespread rains for the next two to three days. According to data from the RMC, weather stations including Abirampatnam, Cuddalore, Madurai, Puducherry and Vellore witnessed moderate rains on Sunday. Puducherry noted the highest rainfall of 7cm on Sunday (till 8.30am).
Weather blogger, K Srikanth said, "The pseudo upper air circulation type of conditions might make late night rains possible for the state.
As the wind instability which is moving north, fair chances of rain can be witnessed in North Tamil Nadu districts including Chennai."
