Hyderabad: Student Police Cadets launched
They would be trained to respect the law, practice discipline and develop empathy for vulnerable sections of the society.
Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Police have started a Student Police Cadets branch with 264 students from three government high schools located at Miyapur, Mailardevpally, and Shivarampally as part of community policing. The selected students would be trained in civic sense, public safety, social harmony and other subjects.
On the lines of the Kerala Police, who started student police cadets in 2010, that helped in building a healthy interface between the police and schools, the Cyberabad Police inaugurated the first batch of SPC on Monday.
Senior police officials of Cyberabad said that the two-year programme would help unlock the spirit of the students and build a healthy society.
Cyberabad police commissioner V.C. Sajjanar said that the two-year programme involving indoor and outdoor training for students of Class VIII and Class IX would take place at the government Zilla Parishad High Schools by the police and also the education department. They would be trained to respect the law, practice discipline and develop empathy for vulnerable sections of the society.
“The programme strengthens the commitment of students towards family, community and the environment enabling them to resist negative tendencies such as substance abuse, deviant behaviour, intolerance and other social evils. It will also help students inculcate aspects of public safety, discipline, patience, social harmony, respect for senior citizens, traffic sense and a corruption-free environment,” said Sajjanar.
