Leadership rushes to Koppula Raju defence
Mr Khuntia said that Mr Raju had no involvement in Telangana affairs.
Hyderabad: AICC general secretary and TS Congress incharge R.C. Khuntia said that AICC member Koppula Raju was not involved in the selection of Congress candidates for the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
In a statement on Tuesday, he said the tickets were decided by the Pradesh election committee. He said the tickets were given after discussions in the PCC, with the leader of the opposition, and AICC in-charge secretaries and Mr Raju had nothing to do with it.
He said it was untrue that some hopefuls were denied tickets because of Mr Raju. He said if Congress leaders had any complaints they should take them to the PCC or AICC and not go to the media.
Mr Khuntia said that Mr Raju had no involvement in Telangana affairs.
Referring to former MP Hanumantha Rao's allegation that he was unable to get an appointment with the then party president Rahul Gandhi because of Mr Raju, he said that Rahul Gandhi's appointments are looked after by his personal assistant and not by Mr Raju.
