Will bring down BJP's proxy government: MK Stalin
It showed that state police was acting on the instructions of the BJP which was ruling the state.
Chennai: DMK working president M.K. Stalin alleged on Wednesday that the BJP was running a proxy government in Tamil Nadu and called upon people to come together to save the state from a minority government.
Recalling the efforts to stop the DMK’s public meeting in Tiruchy, Stalin said that despite the Supreme Court allowing peaceful protests and public meetings, police had denied permission to the meeting. Police took the action only to follow the directions of local BJP functionaries who gave a complaint and demanded that the meeting be stopped, he said. It showed that state police was acting on the instructions of the BJP which was ruling the state.
The DMK leader said that Rs 3 lakh is needed to be paid as fees for coaching students for Neet and asked how rural poor students could afford such a huge sum. Stalin asked about the status of bills exempting Tamil Nadu from Neet passed by the Tamil Nadu Assembly and sent to the Centre.
Launching a scathing attack on the BJP, Stalin said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had not fulfilled his election promises to bring back black money stashed abroad.
Addressing a protest against Neet in Tambaram, Stalin said that his party had already approached the Madras High Court for a direction to Governor Ch. Vidyasagar Rao to convene the Assembly for a floor test and hoped that the party would get a judgment to protect democracy.
He challenged Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami to prove his majority and said that this could even be the last protest before the present state government was brought down.
The state was facing a big crisis, not only on the Neet issue, but on several fronts, he added. Recalling the anti-Hindi agitation in 1965, Stalin said that it paved the way for a change of government and resulted in the DMK capturing power. The party was holding the protests against Neet in a similar manner in a democratic way.
