Woman falls off train into Paravur lake, rescued
She was thrown out as door hit her when train was crossing bridge.
Kollam: A 22-year-old engineering student miraculously escaped unhurt after she had fallen into the backwaters off a moving train at Paravur here on Wednesday.
The girl, identified as Keerthana from Pappanamcode in Thiruvananthapuram, was travelling on the Punalur – Kanniyakumari passenger and fishers on Paravur Lake rescued her.
The incident took place around 8 am when the train was crossing the bridge at Mammoottil Kadavu. The girl who was standing near the door was thrown out of the train after the heavy train door hit her in the jolt while the train passed over the bridge. She fell directly into the water as the men engaged in fishing near the bridge noticed. They immediately rescued her with the help of residents.
The Paravur Police that rushed to the spot took her to the nearby Nedungolam Public Hospital. She had sustained not even minor injuries. Her parents later took her home.
A fourth-year student at an engineering college in Kollam, she was returning home as she felt uneasiness. She boarded the train at Kilikolloor.
