Hyderabad: Union minister of state for home G. Kishan Reddy on Friday announced that armed forces had been withdrawn from a few regions of the valley in Jammu and Kashmir as peace prevailed there.

"Locals are coming forward and supporting the Centre;s decision of abrogating Article 370. In an effort to make sure that people feel the change of development, the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme has been initiated in the Valley," he stated.

He pointed out that the Centre had decided to facilitate the DBT scheme for apple growers in the Valley. It will be a win- win situation for apple growers of Jammu and Kashmir as mediators, who used to take away a major portion of the amount, have been removed from the scene,” Mr Kishan Reddy said.

He maintained that apple growers were the worst-affected due to existence of Article 370, but it is now a good time for them to earn more.
