Hyderabad: Hygienic food and living conditions for the paramilitary forces in the country has often been a matter of debate what with glaring discrepancies surfacing from time to time. But for the
Airport Security Groups (ASG) of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) who guard airports amid heightened threats from various quarters, particularly terrorists, a first of its kind initiative by the top brass of CISF appears to have yielded results.
An internal competition among the ASGs of all the seven Joint Venture airports on infrastructure development, has had the ASG Hyderabad win the second prize for offering a clean, hygienic environment for the security personnel. The first prize was won by Delhi’s ASG.
According to officials, there were 13 parameters on which the competition was based. Among them were maintenance and cleanliness of barracks, quality of food, office infrastructure for the personnel, sports activities and facilities, maintenance of armory, availability of furniture and overall hygiene, among others.
All the ASGs were given three months time to improve the infrastructure after which an assessment was made by a specially formed committee comprising senior CISF officials. “We had renovated the cricket grounds, renovated the mess and also had a new bachelor accommodation which can accommodate 240 of our personnel,” informed Chief Airport Security Officer, Sachin Badshah.
