Hyderabad: The CBI on Friday opposed the petition filed by YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy seeking exemption from appearing before the court in person on Fridays, so that he could g on his padayatra next month.

The CBI had filed a counter before the CBI special court hearing the disproportionate assets cases against Mr Reddy, stating that exemption cannot be sought for political reasons. The court adjourned the trial to October 20.

The CBI reiterated that the High Court did not rule out chances of the padayatra  being misused by Mr Reddy who is accused of involvement in serious economic offences.

The CBI attached the schedule of the padayatra, which showed that Mr Reddy would be walking 3,000 km, without taking permission of the court. It said Mr Reddy had disrespected the court.
