Hyderabad: A 55-year-old woman, who was cheated in Dubai, has sought shelter in the Indian mission in the UAE. She went to the GCC country from Mumbai.
The victim, who went to Dubai to work as a housemaid, was made a partner to a Limited Liability Company (LLC) without her knowledge. She came to know about the partnership when she decided to visit to India to visit her ailing father.
Prathibha Prakash Rao from Mumbai went to Dubai in 2015 on a visit visa to work as a housemaid. She became jobless when her employers got divorced and separated.
Later, she tried to get back her passport to come back to India. As per the address given by the agent, she visited Nargees Banu Technical Services LLC and asked for the passport.
“Though I explained the health condition of my father, they did not consider my request. I was cheated and my visa was converted from visit visa to an investor’s visa without my knowledge,” Ms Prathibha said.
The victim is under protection of the Indian mission in the UAE.
