Karnataka Assembly poll 2018: BJP likely to follow Uttar Pradesh model
The party would focus on booths in order to wrest power in next year's Assembly elections.
Bengaluru: Getting into poll mode, leaders of the state unit of BJP on Friday decided to focus on micro management of 55,000 booths across Karnataka, a strategy successfully implemented in Uttar Pradesh during Assembly polls held earlier this year.
Management of booths and preparations for "Parivarthana" rally, scheduled for launch by party president Amit Shah in Bengaluru on November 2, dominated the proceedings of core committee meeting held here on Friday.
The party would focus on booths in order to wrest power in next year's Assembly elections. Before categorizing the booths, the party would train booth committee members. Now it has already imparted training to booth committee members in 183 Assembly constituencies, while in remaining constituencies, booth committee members would get trained by November 10, 2017. Training would include orientation programms and workshops for booth committee members. During these programmes, the party wouldl distribute booklets to the cadre about the achievements of Narendra Modi government.
On completion of training, reorganization, categorization and grading of booths would be taken up. Booths would be graded as A, B and C.
The grading would be made based on party vote share of particular booths in recent polls. On completion of grading of booths, the party will instruct the cadre to focus on weak category (C) booths, says general secretary and former minister C.T .Ravi.
Modi to address parivarthana rally in state
The BJP core committee discussed preparations for the Parivarthana rally, to be launched on November 2. The second leg of the rally would be held at Hubballi on December 17 with Union home minister Rajnath Singh likely to flag off the rally. The rally would conclude on January 28 with an address by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, added former minister C.T. Ravi. Regarding confusion over change of various committee members, Mr Ravi blamed the media for the confusion, said adding the state unit president holds the key to composition of these committees, and the list would be released on Saturday.
