Warangal: Girl resists sexual assault, man throws her into well
According to police, the 17-year-old girl sustained injuries and was shifted to hospital for treatment.
Warangal: A 23-year-old man on Saturday tried to sexually assault the daughter of his neighbour, and when the girl resisted, threw her into an old well. Later, out of fear, he too jumped inside the well.
According to police, the 17-year-old girl sustained injuries and was shifted to hospital for treatment. The accused, identified as Dasoju Rajesh Chary of Uppagal village in Zaffergadh of Jangaon district, was taken into custody.
ACP Madhusudhan said the girl is an Intermediate second year student in a private college in Hanamkonda. She recently returned home for Dasara vacation.
The accused, who works as a daily wage labourer attacked the girl on Saturday when her parents were out on work. He forced himself upon the girl and when she resisted, he dragged her to a nearby old agriculture well and threw her inside. Hearing the screams of the girl, the locals came to rescue her.
Out of fear, Rajesh too jumped inside the dry well. The villagers let ropes down the well and rescued the girl. She was rushed to the hospital.
The police who received information about the incident reached the spot but were unable to pull Rajesh out. A fire brigade was called for from Jangaon who managed to get him out.
The sizeable crowd that had gathered by this time attacked Rajesh and started beating him.
The police dispersed the crowd and took him to the police station. A case was registered and investigation is on.
