Warangal: Scholar who was guru of gurus dead

He was the mentor of noted spiritualist Chinna Jeeyar Swamy.

WARANGAL: Noted Vedic scholar Sri Nallan Chakravarthula Raghunatha Charyulu passed away here at his residence at Shivanagar, in Warangal, on Saturday. He was 94.

People from different walks of life, including members of Sri Vaishnava community, adored him with great reverence. He was the mentor of noted spiritualist Chinna Jeeyar Swamy.

Known for his authority on Vedic literature and Sanskrit language, Sri Raghunatha Charyulu was respected across the country. Earlier, during his 86th birthday celebration, the Swamy was taken in a procession on a caparisoned elephant, adorned with ‘Swarnakankana’ (golden anklet) by his admirers in Chennai, Bengaluru and in Warangal too, his followers organised a tribute, by carrying him on ‘Brahmaratham.’

Scores of admirers and followers thronged his residence on Saturday to pay rich tributes. Caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao conveyed deep condolences on the demise of Sri Raghunatha Charyulu. He stated that the seer’s demise is a great loss for the spiritual world. The seer stood as a pillar of support in preserving Sri Vaishnava tradition and moulded many Swamijis, including Jeeyar Swamy in his mentorship.
