Let's make it to world's top universities: Modi
Innovation is the key to progress of a country and without research, it is not possible to climb the ladder of progress, says Modi.
Belagavi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has invited 10 private and as many government universities in the country to make a resolve to enter the list of the world's 100 best universities.
“It is shameful to note that no Indian university figures in the list. To make it possible, the government will not only provide special financial aid to interested universities but will also give them needed help without any formalities, to reach the top,” he said.
Speaking at KLE Society's centenary celebrations in Belagavi on Sunday, Modi said the image of India has changed drastically in the last few years. “For long, India was known as a place of snake charmers and black magic. Things changed when our youth started operating computers. The youth force altered the country's image and the world began looking at us. The country started progressing so fast that the world changed its view on India,” he said.
Mr Modi lauded the efforts made by the seven founders of KLE Society, which has expanded to 250 institutions in the span of 100 years and attributed it to professional management. He urged students to produce sportspersons of international repute who can win gold medals for India at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.
“Innovation is the key to progress of a country and without research, it is not possible to climb the ladder of progress. We have so many talented and intelligent youth who can come up with innovative ideas at the international level,'' he said.
