Telangana: Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Shabbir Ali spar in Council
Mr Shabbir Ali asked how was it that only seven ministers were from SC, ST, BC and minority communities in the 18-member Cabinet.
Hyderabad: The Council witnessed heated exchanges between Leader of the Opposition Shabbir Ali and animal husbandry minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav over providing welfare to backward communities in the state. Mr Shabbir Ali asked that when the government had said that 91 per cent of the population belonged to SC, ST, BC and minority communities how was it that only seven ministers were from these communities in the 18-member Cabinet.
Mr Yadav said the people, particularly the BC, SC, ST and minority communities got independence and benefits only after TRS came to power and listed out several schemes and programmes started for them. Mr Shabbir Ali shot back: “Why have four BC. one SC, one ST and a minority ministers for the 91 per cent population and 11 upper caste ministers including the Chief Minister representing the nine per cent.” When the minister insisted that he must be heard, Mr Shabbir Ali said, “You are a defector from the TD and cannot talk about the previous governments.”
