Kozhikode: Centre nod for vital connectivity road
The project involves constructing of a 2.9 km overbridge and will have a budget of Rs 400 cr.
Kozhikode: The Centre has given approval for the Beypore Port-Malaparamba connectivity project, said M.K. Raghavan MP in Kozhikode on Tuesday. Mr Raghavan had presented the project before the Central government for approval.
As part of the project a four lane 18 kilometre road will be built to connect Beypore Port with Malaparamba. The road will also have connections with NH 66 passing thro-ugh Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and with NH 766 connecting Kerala with Karnataka. The project involves constructing of a 2.9 km overbridge and will have a budget of Rs 400 cr.
The project forms part of the Bharathmala-Sagarm-ala project undertaken by the Centre. The decision was taken during the meeting presided by Y.S. Malik, secretary of the ministry of road transport and highways. Director general of road B.N. Singh, additional secretary Leela Nandan, NHIN technical member D.O. Thavade, NHI member R.K. Pandey, Kerala public work department secretary Kamala Vardhan Rao were also present .
The project is expected to change the face of Kozhikode city and also bring a solution to the traffic congestion in the city. Mr Raghavan added that it is now up to the state government undertake the preliminary tasks including land acquisition and issue of ADR. The deadline for issue of Detailed Project Report is December 30th.
