Angry Court Summons GHMC Chief, Hyderabad Collector
Hyderabad: GHMC commissioner Ronald Rose and Hyderabad district collector Anudeep Durishetty on Tuesday appeared before the Telangana High Court after being warned that a NBW would be issued against them in a contempt case relating to non-compliance of the court orders on the demolition of encroachments in Musheerabad.
In April 2022, they were directed by the High Court to remove the encroachments on either side of the road from Musheerabad main road to Janapriya Abode Apartments (known as Vivekanandanagar Colony), within three months.
With no response, a contempt case was filed by K. Sreedhar Reddy of Shatabdi Nilayam Flat Owners Welfare Association. The authorities submitted that they had removed almost all the encroachments. The contempt petitioner showed evidence that a few encroachments were in place.
On September 26, the court expressed anger at the inaction and directed the officials to file a compliance report by November 14 and be present in court if they failed to do so. They were not present in the court on Tuesday.
Though special counsel Harender Pershad sought time citing election work, the bench was not convinced. It asked the officials to appear by the afternoon or it would execute a non-bailable arrest warrant. After the warning, the officials appeared before the court.
