A former aeronautical engineer and his team cheated around 100 gullible youth by falsely promising them jobs in the Railways and NTPC if they paid him, and cleared up Rs 70 lakh in the process.

Eluru: West Godavari Collector K. Bhaskar directed entrepreneurs who have been allotted land to set up their industrial units in an expeditious manner to help unemployed youth get employment and source of livelihood. Taking part in a meeting held here on Wednesday, he underlined the need for both the entrepreneurs and officials to take initiative to set up the units in the designated areas and wondered over the inordinate delay despite providing requisite incentives from the government. He said that out of 1,764 applications received for setting up industrial units under single window system, 1,723 were given clearance while 36 were rejected and five more were pending for some reasons.
