Guntur urban SP helps woman deserted by relative

Guntur: Guntur Urban superintendent of police Ch Vijaya Rao on Wednesday stepped in to help a 77-year-old woman, who was thrown out of her home and was living at a bus stop, get accepted by her family. Ms Unnava Hunumayamma of Vidyanagar had lodged a complaint that she owned a house worth Rs 1 crore at Vidyanagar which was occupied by her daughter Venkataratham and grandson Ashok who had thrown her out of her house.
Responding to the complaint, Mr Vijaya Rao called the family members and counselled them, after which the daughter and grandson agreed to take care of Ms Hunumayamma. Ms Hanumayamma said that she and her husband had run a hotel and had only a daughter. During Ms Venkataratham’s marriage, she had given the house to her. She said her husband died in a road accident. After this, the hotel was sold and Ms Hanumayamma purchased a 240-square yard land at Reddypalem and kept Rs 2 lakh as deposits. She said that she used live on the rent from her house. She said her daughter had taken her money for marriage of her granddaughter, and promised to repay it later.
She said she was now ailing and was unable to walk without support. Despite this, Ms Venkataratnam had forced her to leave the house. Ms Hanumayamma said she was living at the bus stop at Vidyanagar and locals were giving her food. Mr Vijaya Rao responding to the difficulty called Ms Venkataratham and Ashok and counselled them. The duo agreed to pay rent of Rs 16,000 every month to Ms Hanumayamma and agreed to return the Rs 2 lakh deposit. They also agreed to return the land documents and signed papers agreeing to take care of Ms Hanumayamma.
