Telangana Police kills 6 naxalites of CPI (ML) Chandra Pulla Reddy (Bata) faction
According to the police sources, the encounter' took place at Mellamaduga forest area in Tekulapalli mandal in early hours of Thursday.
Hyderabad: Six suspected naxalites of CPI (ML) Chandra Pulla Reddy (Bata) faction were killed in an “exchange of fire” with the Telangana police in Khammam early on Thursdsay. A few more members of the group have reportedly sustained injuries in the incident.
According to the police sources, the ‘encounter’ took place at Mellamaduga forest area in Tekulapalli mandal in early hours of Thursday.
Special units of the Telangana police along with their local counterparts are conducting combing operations in the forest area. The police had got information about the group extorting money from the businessmen.
The combing operations were intensified in the Tekulapalli mandal this week following information of about the group taking shelter in the forest area.
Police sources maintained that the ‘encounter took place’ when the armed members of the CP (Bata) opened fire on the combing parties. In retaliation, the police returned the fire resulting in the deaths of six naxalites. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered.
Additional police forces were rushed to the area to step up search operation in pursuit of the escaped ultras.
