Hyderabad: Cameras to look after doctors' safety
The doctors have been targeted by relatives and miscreants in the trauma section time and again.
Hyderabad: Cameras in the in-patient wards in the emergency section have been ordered to be installed by the Board of Governors of the Medical Council of India due to recurring attacks on doctors. The doctors have been targeted by relatives and miscreants in the trauma section time and again.
Doctors have constantly demanded that police personnel be posted for their safety. They have also demanded action against the attackers.
Dr G. Srinivas, senior resident at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences, said the decision of the MCI was welcomed. “We want the people to know that they will be watched and if they are attacking doctors action will be taken against them. It will work both ways as doctors will also have to counsel patients properly.”
All medical colleges have been asked to install cameras for safety purposes. The footage captured will be under lock and key on the medical college servers and access to them will be provided only in case of any untoward incident.
