Thiruvananthapuram: Prepaid card, app for MCH patients
Go green' offers hassle-free services.
Thiruvananthapuram: The Government Medical College Hospital here will provide hassle-free services to hundreds of patients. It introduced prepaid card for cash-less services from the laboratory under the Hospital Development Society (HDS).
A mobile app – ELISA consultation – enables doctors to update on the test to be carried out on the patient.
Currently, the patient has to get the investigation request from the doctor and go in person to the HDS lab for doing various tests. An official of MCH said that this is part of their go green initiative and reduce the usage of paper.
“The facility will be available for all inpatients, and the doctor will be able to order the test online through the app, and the patient or the bystander doesn’t have to go and collect the test result. Once the test is done the lab will upload the results and doctors will be able to access the result through the app,” he said.
Currently, the online application has been made available for doctors and students.
The MCH authorities are also planning to incorporate the central lab in the app to ensure this service to outpatients.
“The prepaid card will help the patient avoid cash payments. The card will be a boon to patients under the government insurance scheme,” said the official.
