Electric pole poses threat to residents in Warangal
In case of heavy wind or if some vehicle hits it by mistake, it would fall endangering the lives of the colony residents.
Warangal: A dangerously placed electric pole is posing danger to the residents of Girmajipet colony in Warangal. The pole at Bodrai junction is erected on a corner beside a transformer. The drainage too passes right beside it. Rats started digging the ground under the pole resulting in the pole losing its grip and started leaning towards the road. It is standing only with the support of wires.
In case of heavy wind or if some vehicle hits it by mistake, it would fall endangering the lives of the colony residents.
“In addition to this, the mud dug by the rats is falling in the drainage and blocking its free flow. Due to the presence of the transformer, a proper drainage canal was not constructed beside this transformer. The rest of the colony has drainage canals. Sometimes the water gets logged and spreads onto the road stinking up the place. This condition is also causing flooding of the road during heavy rains. Apart from all this, the transformer is also blocking the view of the road users at the corner causing accidents,” lamented S. Kalyan, a resident of the colony.
The residents say they filed a complaint with the GWMC officials about the drainage and the pole but no action has been taken so far.
They have cleared the garbage in the area but the pole remains the same. They are living in constant fear that the pole would fall and cause a short circuit inside the homes causing major damage.
The residents appeal to the concerned officials to act immediately regarding the issue and find a solution.
