KOZHIKODE: A retired official has submitted a plan to the KSRTC management to make the travel card it has launched a market-linked debit card. The project, if successful, will give the KSRTC the much needed funds cushion, according to K.G. Muraleedharan, who designed it.
Mr Muraleedharan said there are 40 lakh passengers those depend on the corporation every day and the corporation can make them part of the project. The corporation can tie-up with cooperative banks and other state utilities so that the cards can be used to remit electricity and water bills, KSFE chitty and various fees of the government. My estimate is that the corporation will be able to get upto Rs 5,000 as revolving funds,” he said. “The idea will be a success if the corporation can manage to enlist the support of a small percentage of the commuters. I have submitted a detailed project to the KSRTC management but no feedback has come so far.”
