Daggubati jr set to join YSR Congress
Sources close to Ms Purandeswari said that in two or three days, they were expecting the letter.
Hyderabad: Former Union minister and BJP leader Daggubati Purandeswari’s son, Mr Daggubati Hitesh, is waiting to relinquish his US citizenship to join the YSR Congress. Hitesh has written to the US government on the issue and once he gets the clearance letter from the US government, he will announce his joining YSR Congress.
Sources close to Ms Purandeswari said that in two or three days, they were expecting the letter. He wants to contest from Parchur Assembly constituency in Prakasam district, which was represented by his father and former minister Mr Daggubati Venkateswar Rao. According to Indian government rules, foreign citizens cannot contest in India in any elections. So after getting clearance from the US, Mr Hitesh will announce his political entry.
Meanwhile, Ms Purandeswari thought of retiring from politics since her son was going to join YSRC. But the BJP leadership told her that they would not have any objection to her continuing in the party even after her son Hitesh joined the YSRC. The BJP leadership told her that their main target in AP was the Telugu Desam and not the YSRC.
M Daggubati Venkat-eswar Rao will lead his son Hitesh in politics and will take care of his the campaign in Parchur Assembly constituency if the YSRC confirms his ticket.
