Cyberabad cops wind up task forces
Senior officials said that it will take at least one and half years to fill up the vacancies.
Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police has dissolved its zonal task forces due to staff crunch and poor performance by the teams.
The ZTF cops are being deployed in local PSs. The job of the STF has been taken up by the special operation teams. Earlier Cyberabad had two SOTs. Now there are three SOTs in each zone.
Cyberabad police has also dissolved two of the seven central crime stations. The police decided to strengthen the five CCSs at Madhapur, Balanagar, Malkajgiri, LB Nagar and Shamshabad.
The Cyberabad commissionerate, spread over 3,700 sq.km. was given 7,200 cops but there are 2,000 vacancies. The Commissionerate covers a population of 65 lakh, with a police-public ratio of 1:1250.
Senior officials said that it will take at least one and half years to fill up the vacancies. So they had to go for a reorganisation of the available force.
The CCSs focus on crime investigation and detection to reduce the burden on local police stations. The LB Nagar police station receives the largest number of complaints. About 1,700 First Information Reports were registered here in a year.
