Complaint filed against Priya Varrier's song for hurting religious sentiments

Hyderabad: The film unit of Malayalam movie Oru Adaar Love is in trouble after Falaknuma police registered a case against them for hurting religious sentiments of a particular community.
A complaint has been lodged against the lyrics of the song ‘Manikya Malaraya Poovi’, featuring Priya Prakash Warrier and Roshan Abdul Rahoof, allegedly for hurting Muslim sentiments.
In the complaint, Muqeed, an engineering student and resident of Farooq Nagar said that after watching the song on the social media site ‘YouTube’, he translated the lyrics. “I wanted to sing the song but as the lyrics were difficult, I took a print out of it. Later, I translated it and found that the lyrics hurt the sentiments of Muslim community,” Muqeed told Deccan Chronicle.
The youth, along with a few others, lodged a complaint with Falaknuma police station against the Director of the movie Omar Lulu and others.
“A case has been registered under Section 295A against the director of the film and others. We are seeking the opinion of religious scholars to establish whether the lyrics hurt the sentiments of Muslims. Help is being sought from translators to convert the content into English,” ACP Falaknuma Syed Fayaz said. Another complaint was made by one Soofi Shah Mohammed Abdul Qhader Quadri Saani, a religious leader.
Cops to issue notice to film unit
Another complaint was made at Kamatipura police station by one Soofi Shah Mohammed Abdul Qhader Quadri Saani, a religious leader. He made similar allegations in the complaint and the police registered a similar case.
Deputy commissioner of police (South) V Satyanarayana said that the police will issue notices to the film unit after getting clarity on the lyrics of the song. Two clips of the movie of 26 and 30 minutes duration had gone viral on the social media.

“We had changed only its music, not the lyrics. All these are unnecessary matters. People carry negativity in their head,” director of the movie Omar Lulu said.
