Already, regular flights have been introduced between Belagavi-Chennai, Belagavi-Mumbai and Belagavi-Bengaluru even before the airport upgradation began. Several leaders from Belagavi are demanding that Airport Authority of India (AAI) help connect Belagavi to Rajasthan and Gujarat to cater to the demand of a large number of people from these areas staying in Belagavi region. For direct flights to New Delhi and other important cities, people from Belagavi region are dependent on the airports in Goa and Bengaluru.
