Bengaluru: Last week’s fire at illegal Kundalahalli dumping yard has been doused. But the nearby residents want the dumped garbage, which is on a private land, to be removed as it is emanating unbearable stench.

After continuous complaints by the citizens, it seems to have yielded some result as BBMP Assistant Executive Engineer and Health Inspector visited the spot, after which they agreed to lodge a police complaint against the owners of the land for allowing illegal dumping.

It may be recalled that MLA Aravind Limbavali had visited the area in November and asked BBMP officials to identify the owners of the land and serve them notices for allowing illegal garbage dumping. However, the BBMP officials did not bother and woke up only when fire broke out in the dumping yard last week.

The BBMP officials further have assured to clear the dumped garbage and according to them, this task will be taken up with the owners of the dumping site bearing the cost.

As an immediate relief to citizens, the pathway from the Kundallahalli Lake to Divyashree Tech Park will be cleaned up by the BBMP.
