Mumbai gang supplying drugs to IT circles in Hyderabad, suspect police
The Police have also found around 40 persons from the city who were in constant touch with this gang
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (HNEW) busted a major drug-supplying racket operating from Mumbai and arrested four persons, suspecting this gang has penetrated more in the IT circles in the city, supplying drugs to techies, particularly women.
They are also preparing to take Dinesh Mohan Kodmur of Mumbai, who supplied drugs to this gang in bulk quantities into custody.
He is already arrested by the Mumbai police and is currently in judicial remand. Police are exploring the possibility of bringing him to the city on a transit warrant. A thorough interrogation of Dinesh would lead to the MDMA manufacturing units in Mumbai, through which city police hope to crack down on the illegal business to a major extent.
Mumbai police have already seized a couple of such units, but there are several units still producing MDMA in large quantities and releasing them into the market, from where it is smuggled to other parts of the country, said city police officials.
Police have already found that the arrested accused Jatin Bhalchandra Bhalerao has 81 consumers and Javed Shamshair Ali Siddique has 30 consumers, respectively in Mumbai. They have also found around 40 persons from the city who were in constant touch with this gang.
Further investigation is on to verify if they are consumers or not. “They will be summoned and if required sent for medical examination to ascertain if they were consuming drugs. Accordingly, the investigation would proceed,” officials said.
Meanwhile, Sana Khan, a techie who was arrested in December, gave out the names of five women, all techies, to whom she supplied drugs. They were counselled and sent for rehabilitation.
Police on Tuesday arrested four members of the gang and seized 204 grams of MDMA and other material, all worth Rs 20 lakh from them. They were sent to judicial remand on Wednesday.
