More than 10 lakh students to take class X exams which begin from today
This year, 10.72 lakh students from 12,054 schools are going to write the exams.
Chennai: More than 10 lakh students are to take class X state board exams which begin on Tuesday. As many as 3,369 exam centres have been set up in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry for the exams.
Like in the Plus two exams, the restriction on cell phones will strictly be enforced in the class X exams. "No student or invigilator will be allowed to carry cell phones inside the exam centres and if anybody violated this rule, strict action will be taken against them," the director of government exams has warned.
This year, 10.72 lakh students from 12,054 schools are going to write the exams. Unlike the plus two exams, boys outnumbered girls in class X as 5,946 more boys are taking exams this year. In Chennai 53,168 students from 574 schools are going to write the exams. From Puducherry 17,041 students are writing the exams. Flying and stationary squads, consisting of more than 7,000 teachers, are being formed and they will undertake surprise visits to the exam centres to check for malpractices.
This year, 250 prisoners from various prisons across the state are going to write the exams in the centres exclusively set up for them in Palayamkottai, Tiruchi, Coimbatore and Puzhal prisons. As many as 6.70 lakh candidates who studied in the Tamil medium are exempted from paying the exam fees. From all over the state 3,679 differently able students will get aid in the form of a scribe and an extra hour to write the exams. The directorate of government exams also requested the TNEB to provide the uninterrupted power supply to the exam centres.
