SSLC exam: Chemistry paper tricky, accounts easy
Monday was a mixed bag for plus-two students.
Coimbatore: Plus-two students who wrote chemistry papers on Monday were hoping for a simple, easy paper. But it turned out to be tricky and complex with twisted options of 25 marks, which left students in a fix. Though every single question was from the book, the way the questions were framed, was quite confusing for many students.
“Four questions of one mark were asked in a twisted way that students spent some time thinking over it again and again to understand it. Every answer was from the book, but the only thing is, questions were smartly twisted, that left students do some critical thinking. The toppers too had a tough time answering them all. Getting centum this time, is quite difficult,” said a K. Ramya, a chemistry teacher.
Teachers also said that this is the first time in the higher secondary board examination that students were asked three mark questions. “Question number 35, 35 and 45 were very tough and was never asked before in higher secondary examinations,” claimed the chemistry teacher. High scoring students were also not able to check all the answers before they submitted the answer sheets.
But for the students who wrote accountancy paper, it was just the contrary- a picnic of an exam. Teachers said it was easier than the last year’s paper and they were expecting all the students to get through this paper easily. “Everything was from the syllabus, only thing was changed were the ‘names and numbers’ from the question to make it look little different. This time surprisingly, I am seeing many students taking the 12 marks theory instead of problems, as every year it used to be very tough. The chances of centum are high in accountancy,” said K. Shobana, an accountancy teacher.
