Telangana: Colleges to have no say in filling of medical seats

Convener and management quota seats will be filled through common counseling held by the state government.

Update: 2017-03-14 20:13 GMT
The trend of Government nursing college students topping in entrance tests had reversed since 2008 when the State Government ordered higher secondary marks as the basis for BSc (nursing) admissions.

Hyderabad: Private medical colleges in the state will, from the coming academic year, have no say in the filling of PG and UG medical seats. Convener and management quota seats will be filled through common counseling held by the state government.

“We were told the respective state governments would be holding a common counselling for all courses. If the circular had mentioned common counselling for all seats, (convener and management categories), it would have been clearer. We are not sure what the MCI  (Medical Council of India) wants,” C. Lakshmi Narasimha Rao, president Telangana Private Medical and Dental Colleges Association, said.
