Bomb scare at Secunderabad railway station

The bomb detection squad and security forces rushed to the railway station and searched it thoroughly, but found nothing.

Hyderabad: Panic gripped the Secunderabad railway station after an anonymous caller warned the police that a bomb has been planted at the station. The bomb detection squad and security forces rushed to the railway station and searched it thoroughly, but found nothing.

Later, the police traced the caller to Rajendranagar in the city. Railway police said that around 2.30 pm on Thursday the Railway control room at Secunderabad received a call.

The caller, who spoke in Telugu, said that a bomb was planted at the Railway station. The message was immediately passed on to the Railway police and bomb disposal squads.

Railway security personnel and the police rushed to the station and launched a search for the explosive. “We searched the entire length of the station and premises thoroughly and found nothing. It could be the act of a mischief monger. We are trying to track him,” Railway SP J. Janardhan said.

The search continued till 5 pm. Police said the call was made from a mobile phone number and the address was tracked to Rajendranagar. However, the police did not give any indication regarding the identity of the caller.
