Tirupati: Chittoor district collector P.S. Pradyumna has responded on the Settipalle land issue after farmers met Jana Sena chief Mr Pawan Kalyan.

It may be recalled that the farmers met Mr Pawan Kalyan and said that the government is grabbing their lands forcefully and Mr Kalyan assured to fight against the government by visiting the village before April 23.

Speaking to this newspaper on Saturday, collector Mr Pradyumna said, “Some people who purchased land where there is no land and others who purchased government lands are creating problems. We did a survey in the village and farmers agreed to provide some of the land in a deal by regularising the remaining land on their name. We have informed farmers about the development of economic city and have agreed for the same. We are in search of various options and the work is not yet complete.”

Regarding the Chittoor highway extension issue, the collector said, “In urban areas, compensation will not be paid. FSI or TDR bonds will be provided instead. I have appealed to the public to come forward to join hands for development and most of them have come forward. Very few people are trying to create problems”.

Minister for industries Mr N. Amarnath Reddy also slammed Pawan Kalyan and said, “He is creating hurdles for development in the name of resolving public problems and the government is compensating all farmers who have lost land in highway expansion.”
