Chennai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will certainly solve the Cauvery imbroglio and ensure that all the farmers in the delta region get their share of the water, BJP state secretary Ms Vanathi Srinivasan said here on Saturday.

Rubbishing the charge made by MDMK leader Vaiko in Madurai that the PM “will never constitute the Cauvery Management Board” and that Tamil Nadu would not get justice in the water dispute, Vanathi told DC: “Vaiko is losing his balance in blindly criticising the PM. It's just just Modiji, he had earlier abused Stalin and even Karunanidhi”.

She said the PM would solve the water problems of not only the Cauvery region but other river basins across the country, such as Noyyal, Bhavani and Thamirabharani. “We are working for a permanent solution and definitely our government at the Centre will do justice for Tamil Nadu. What the Centre is expecting is a little clarification from the Supreme Court and it will surely bring the scheme. Definitely the PM will solve this issue”, Vanathi said.

She said the opposition parties in Tamil Nadu “are trying to destabilise the state government”. After badly losing the RK Nagar by-election, DMK leader Stalin “is trying to revive his political consolidation by using the Cauvery issue”, she said, adding, “If he is really interested in Cauvery, his party would have shown the same vigour that he is now showing in agitating, and solved it long ago”.
