Hyderabad: Primary health centre deserted, woman delivers baby in auto
To their dismay there was no doctor or medical staff to attend her at the primary health care centre.
Hyderabad: A woman delivered a baby in an autorickshaw after being turned away from the local primary health centre in Nalgonda district on Sunday.
According to reports, Ms A. Annapurna, 30, came to her parents’ house in Tipparthi in Nalgonda house for her delivery. She developed labour pains in the afternoon and was taken to the primary health centre in Tipparthi. She was accompanied by Ms Parvathamma, an accredited social health activist (ASHA).
To their dismay there was no doctor or medical staff to attend her at the primary health care centre.
Ms Annapurna, who was in pain, and Ms Parvathamma boarded an autorickshaw to go to the Nalgonda government hospital. On the way, her water broke and Ms Annapurna delivered the baby in the autorickshaw. Ms Parvathamma assisted in the delivery.
Both Ms Annapurna and the newborn were stated to be in good health. After getting information of the incident, Tipparthi ZPTC member Saidulu lodged a complaint with the district collector.
