Nara Lokesh uses social media on water issues

Vijayawada: Minister for PR&IT Nara Lokesh is using social media and opening call centres to solve drinking water problems in the rural areas.

He has launched a programme to solve long pending problems in the rural areas, including drinking water problem. The minister is using the platforms of social media, information technology, Facebook and SMS alert systems to solve the problems in no time.

According to press release from minister’s office, Lokesh has launched a pilot programme to solve drinking water problem in rural areas by collecting day-to-day information. He has set up a system using technology, GPS and SMS alert system and call centre to redresss the drinking water problem in rural areas. As part of it, a trial run of call centre has been launched in drought-hit districts.

The officials have started sending messages to ZPTCs and MPTCs to complain against drinking water problem in their respective areas.

To prevent misuse of drinking water supply through tankers, GPS tracking system has been introduced. The minister has allotted Rs 2 lakh for drought-hit mandals and Rs 1 lakh for other mandals to take up emergey works.
