Kamal Haasan invites MK Stalin for May 19 Cauvery meet

Speaking to reporters after meeting the DMK leader, he said he would invite (actor) Rajinikanth and several other leaders for the meeting.

Chennai: Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) leader Kamal Haasan who has announced to hold an exclusive meeting in Chennai to discuss Tamil Nadu’s rights in the ongoing Cauvery tussle with Karnataka on May 19, has invited DMK working president M. K. Stalin to participate in the meet.

The actor who went to Anna Arivalayam – DMK state headquarters here on Monday evening and extended the invitation to Mr. Stalin, said all the leaders should unite on a common platform and take up the cause of the farmers.

“This is an important gathering. Based on discussions with all the farmers association it has been decided that a meeting – ‘Tamil Nadu’s voice for Cauvery,’ should be conducted in Chennai. We plan to discuss and demand Tamil Nadu’s rightful share of water from different dams,” Kamal said.

Speaking to reporters after meeting the DMK leader, he said he would invite (actor) Rajinikanth and several other leaders for the meeting. “This is the occasion for all of us to remain united for the well-being of Tamil people,” he added.

Earlier, addressing the press at his head office here, the MNM leader said, “We have been losing our rights on Cauvery gradually. This is a political game. The only way is for farmers to be united. Everyone’s got to be united beyond political boundaries. I am happy that they’ve chosen Nallakannu ayya as their leader.”
